Church:  Aley Church is a dynamic and fast growing congregation.  Aley is located within one mile of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University.  Aley’s philosophy of “Open Hearts, Open Minds, and Open Doors” has helped earn its reputation for its openness to newcomers of all ages.  Aley recognizes the importance of children and youth and hosts a resident Christian preschool and day care center.  Aley is well known for its local community outreach programs as members of the congregation participate in this ministry on a regular basis.  Aley is a United Methodist congregation in the West Ohio Annual Conference.

Job Description:  The Director of the Adult Ministry is a part-time salaried, 16 hours per week staff position.  The Director is responsible for creating, leading, and managing adult education ministries.  The main focus of the Adult Ministry is to inspire the Word of God and help educate the congregation through Christian educational ministries.

Qualifications:  Minimum:  The desire to serve the Lord through Christian education at Aley.  The gifts and graces required of this ministry include leadership, interpersonal, and organization skills as well as the ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.  The applicant should have an enlightened knowledge of the scriptures and our Wesleyan United Methodist heritage.  Desired: A Bachelor’s degree in Education and previous experience as a church Director of Adult Ministries (or equivalent).  

Duties:  The Director of Adult Ministries provides complete oversight, leadership, and planning for the adult educational ministries of the church including Church School, Disciple Bible Study, and other programs as needed.

Develops and implements programs to promote adult Church School attendance and participation.  Keeps abreast of current trends in Christian Education and evaluates the effectiveness of educational ministries at Aley.

Recruits, trains and encourage teachers and educational leaders for adult Christian education.
